Photo Story: Impressions: part 21

February 13, 2007

story
Paige: *speechless and blushing terribly*
Sebastian: How are you, Miss Paige?
Paige: *stammers* Uh...I'm fine. I, um, didn't know you were back.
Sebastian: We only just returned.
Paige: We?

story
Sebastian: Yes. May I introduce my friend, Crispin. Crispin, this is Miss Paige.
Crispin: Nice to meet you, ma'am.
Paige: And you.
*awkward silence*

story
Sebastian: Actually, I am glad to see you, Miss Paige, I have something to give you.
Paige: Oh...no, really...you don't have to...
Sebastian: Yes, I do. When you see it you will understand why. Excuse me for a moment while I go find it.
*Sebastian leaves Paige and Crispin alone*

story
Crispin: It really is a pleasure to finally meet you.
Paige: Finally?
Crispin: Yes, Sebastian has told me all about you.
Paige: *uncomfortable squirm* He did?
Crispin: *smile* Don't worry, it was all good. And he was not exaggerating when he said how lovely you are.
Paige: *blush* Oh, I'm sure he was.

story
Crispin: It is not Sebastian's way to exaggerate, he always just says what he thinks.
Paige: I kind of got that idea about him. But I really don't know him very well.
Crispin: You don't? Well, you couldn't hope to meet a better man.
Paige: Oh?

story
Crispin: He is highly respected in our kingdom, people look up to him.
Paige: *interested* They do?
Crispin: Oh yes, even though he is a member of the royal family he makes it a point to associate with everyone and has a great deal of influence. For example, there is an unfortunate prejudice in our kingdom against those without magical power. When Sebastian's cousin, Sabrina, was born without magic she was shunned by nearly everyone. Sebastian brought her to the palace to get an education when no one else would give her a chance. Now poeple think twice about that kind of prejudice...although the change is slow.

story
Paige: But Sabrina and Sebastian hate each other.
Crispin: *laughs* They annoy each other, yes, but believe me, they don't hate each other.
Paige: I see.
Crispin: Sebastian has been my friend for as long as I can remember even though I have no connection to the royal family. He's my friend because...well, I don't know, he just is.

story
Paige: I didn't know any of this.
Crispin: Well, he's never be the one to mention it, would he? Sometimes he appears to put on airs of superiority, but that's only because he has strong opinions about things. It's just the way he is.
Paige: Nobody's perfect.
Crispin: No. And Sebastian would be the first in line to say that, he knows his faults.

story
*Sebastian returns*
Sebastian: This is for you, Miss Paige.
Paige: Oh, Sebastian, a caterpillar!
Sebastian: Yes. She has been living in the palace gardens at home for quite a few years. No one has been able to figure out why she was there or why she won't turn into a butterfly, but I was able to use the technique you taught me to speak to her.
Paige: You've been practicing?
Sebastian: Yes.

story
Sebastian: She told me she does not want to become a butterfly but would not tell me why. Then I told her about you and she wanted to meet you. I promised to bring her to you, maybe you can find out more about her...she may trust a fairy more than me.
Paige: That is kind of you, she's lovely.

story
Sebastian: Here. *hands the caterpillar to Paige...their hands touch*

story
Paige: *slightly flustered* Thank you.
Sebastian: I know she is in excellent care with you. If you find out why she does not want to become a butterfly will you inform me?
Paige: I will, I promise.
Sebastian: I am eager to see Madison. Until later, Miss Paige. *he leaves with Crispin*

story
Paige: *thinking to herself* He doesn't hate me...

story
Sebastian: *thinking to himself as he looks back at Paige* She doesn't hate me...
