Origami:

Since I was about 10 years old I've done origami (Japanese paper folding) as a hobby. I don't claim to be an expert or anything, but it appeals to my perfectionist nature. Here are a few photos of some of the things I've learned how to fold over the years.

This is an orange pinecone. I wanted to make it brown like a real one, but didn't have any brown paper at the time. This really wasn't too hard, folding wise, but it took about an hour to make!

This is a seahorse. The tail is the only real hard part of making this fold.

This is suppose to be a rabbit, but over the years I've been told it looks like a donkey and a dog...whatever. This is the first really difficult fold I learned how to do.

This fold took two pieces of paper to make, it is a lion's face.

I think this is really cute, it's a koala bear climbing on a tree branch.

This is a traditional Japanese crane, but the beak is a bit long.

Here are two frogs. The top one is "easy" and it jumps when you hold down it's rear end and let go fast. The lower one is "difficult" and I had to blow it up through it's bottom...:P

Here is a yellow whale.

This is an book, that actually turns pages and everything. Believe it or not, I made this out of one piece of paper...but it was a pain to figure out, I'm not sure I could do it again!

I just love these, they are baby shoes! Isn't that great? It even has little shoestrings...I just adore these!

This is a crab, isn't he cool? I had to make little cuts in the paper to make that many legs, but it was really not as hard as it looks to fold this one.

This is a flapping crane, it's the first fold I learned how to make. It's slightly less traditional then the other crane that I display above, but it's my favorite crane to make because it flaps it's wings when you pull the tail. It is also not hard to make.

Here is a hermit crab, isn't that great? I love this one!

This is a T. Rex dinosaur. I learned how to make this fold out of an origami book I own that reads very much like a college level geometry book. While folding it I was supposed to be contemplating how many triangles I was making...right. Let's just say I skipped that and stuck to the fun of folding. Regardless of the triangle thing, he turned out pretty well. Most of the stuff in that book I will never know how to make, but it's neat to see what is possible to fold with paper.

Here is a pair of penguins, I made then out of different sizes of paper so I could have a "mom" and "baby".

This is a simple robin.

This is my pride and joy, my dragon! I can't tell you how hard this is to make...really, really hard. It's probably the hardest fold I've ever done and took me many tries to figure out and perfect. I still don't think his head is quite right, but I don't care, I think he rocks!
